    Lumbini is a beautiful town in Central Nepal, and is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Due to it’s cultural significance and high number of Buddhist stupas, Lumbini a popular destination for religious devotees from across Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and other countries.
  4. Nepal Wasn’t Ruled By The British Empire
    In fact, Nepal has never been ruled by a foreign power. Nepal was a Monarchy until 2005, and it’s a Democratic Republic now.

    The Nepali calendar is called the Bikram Sambat, and has it’s own months. The New Year falls in the middle of April. The lengths of the Nepali months change from year to year. (Technically, if you want to live in the future, you can move to Nepal. It’s 2072 here.)

    The Gurkha soldiers are renowned for their warrior spirit, with a reputation of being amongst the finest and most feared soldiers in the world. The Queen of England awarded Corporal Dipprasad Pun the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross for defeating more than 30 Taliban fighters single-handedly in Helmand Province of Afghanistan in September 2010.
