Should we consider the republic an achievement or a disaster?

     BS. After the second people's movement of 2062/63, the monarchy was abolished, and a democratic republic was established. This movement was completed in 2063 Baisakh, which ended the 238-year-old Shah dynasty monarchy and laid the foundation for a republic. Then, on 2065 Jestha 15, the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly formally declared Nepal a republic. 

Here is a list of the names and tenures of the prime ministers since the establishment of the republic after the people's movement of 2062/63:


1. Girija Prasad Koirala
- Term: 2063 Baisakh 16 - 2065 Shrawan 15
- Description: Koirala, who led the Second People's Movement, became the Prime Minister of the government formed after the movement. He took forward the process of establishing a republic.
2. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda.'
- Term: 2065 Shrawan 15 - 2066 Jestha 11 (first term)
- Description: The first elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Nepal. He was the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist).
3. Madhav Kumar Nepal
- Term: 2066 Jestha 11 - 2067 Ashar 15
- Description: The leader of the CPN (UML), Nepal, tried to take forward the process of constitution-making.
4. Jhalanath Khanal
- Term: 2067 Falgun 20 - 2068 Bhada 12
- Description: The tenure of another CPN (UML) leader, Khanal, was short and unstable.
5. Baburam Bhattarai
- Term: 2068 Bhadra 12 - 2069 Chait 1
- Description: Bhattarai, a leader of the CPN (Maoist), led the government before the dissolution of the first Constituent Assembly.
6. Khil Raj Regmi
- Term: 2069 Chait 1 - 2070 Falgun 28
- Description: Regmi, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, led the interim government as a non-political figure. The elections for the second Constituent Assembly were held during his term.
7. Sushil Koirala
- Term: 2070 Falgun 28 - 2072 Asoj 25
- Description: The Constitution of Nepal was promulgated on 2072 Asoj 3 under the leadership of Koirala, the President of the Nepali Congress.
8. Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli
- Term:
- First: 2072 Asoj 25 - 2073 Shrawan 19
- Second: 2074 Falgun 3 - 2078 Asar 29
- Third: 2081 Shrawan 31 - Till date (Present)
- Description: CPN (UML) leader Oli has become Prime Minister three times. His second term also includes the unification and dissolution of the CPN (Nepal Communist Party).
9. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda.'
- Term:
- Second: 2073 Shrawan 19 - 2074 Jestha 24
- Third: 2079 Pus 10 - 2081 Shrawan 31
- Description: Prachanda led the government in his second and third terms as well. Local-level elections were held under his leadership.
10. Sher Bahadur Deuba
- Term:
- First (after the Republic): 2074 Jestha 24 - 2074 Falgun 3
- Second: 2078 Asad 29 - 2079 Pus 10
- Description: Nepali Congress President Deuba led the government twice after the Republic. Three levels of elections were held during his first term.
