In 1966, a small white gorilla left the world speechless. Snowflake, born in the jungles of Equatorial Guinea, arrived at the Barcelona Zoo and became the only recorded albino gorilla. His fair skin and blue eyes made him a scientific and cultural icon. Genetic studies confirmed that his albinism resulted from inbreeding, as his parents were possibly uncle and niece. Although he had 21 offspring, none inherited his coloring. "He was a magnet for attention," scientists recalled. He lived for nearly 40 years and died in 2003 from skin cancer. An everlasting symbol of science and environmental awareness.
